Staged Wind-Down

As of April 9, 2025, we are beginning a complete wind-down of the platform. We're sorry to close down the Service Square and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Why are we doing this?

Unfortunately, Service Square has not successfully gotten enough interest to be a viable platform. For example...

• In the past 365 days, no new opportunities have been added to the platform.

• In the past 365 days, no new charities have registered with the platform.

• We have never received any monetary donation from any user to offset our costs.

• Only 121 users have opened the website in the last 365 days. 

• All but four of these users never returned to the site for a second visit.

At this time, we believe our efforts and funds to improve service work are better spent in other ways.

What can you do now?

We are still here for you and want to help the transition away from our platform be as smooth as possible.

• If you need custom technology support or solutions related to services previously offered by Service Square, we may be able to help. Please send an email to bryce@brycemchose.com before May 1st and I'll see if I can help you.

• To display your opportunities to a local community, consider switching over to a similar platform. Our personal recommendation is GivePulse. 

• For basic website development, we recommend either Linktree or Google Sites, depending on the exact use case.

What will the wind-down process look like?

Our staged wind-down will take place between April 9 and June 1. Crossed off items have been completed.

• April 9

  • Banners will be added to all of our websites and social media bios notifying users of our wind-down process.

  • Registrations to join Service Square as a verified charity will be deactivated.

• Between April 9 and April 18

  • Service Square social media accounts will be deactivated.

  • The interactive "gamified" version of our site will be deactivated.

  • Our donation form will be deactivated. In the case that a donation is received prior to this form being deactivated, that donation will be returned to the donor in its entirety.

  • Our changelog will be deactivated.

• Between April 9 and April 30

  • The Service Square app will be removed from the iOS app store. [Removal Process Initiated - April 18]

  • Service Square for Schools platform support will be terminated.

• On May 1

  • New service opportunities will no longer be able to be added to the platform.

• Between May 14 and May 31

  • The Service Discovery website will be removed.

  • All informational pages on the site will be removed.

• On June 1

  • All listed service opportunities will be deleted.

  • The Service Opportunities website will be removed.

  • The Service Square home website will be removed.

  • The Service Square website status page will be deactivated.

  • The Service Square Linktree will be deactivated.

  • Email addresses ending in @servicesquare.org will not be monitored. You can still contact me after this date at bryce@brycemchose.com
